[THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE MORNING RIGHT]
Woody asked me what Jessie and I have been keeping from him and I couldn't keep it up when he kept digging. I told him everything, but not that you know.
[his typing bubble stays up for a long while, until eventually:] Maybe we should've just told him from the start.
He asked me before, at the costume party. He'd seen Bonnie's name on the bottom of your foot and I figured he was likely going to come and talk to you about it eventually.
Maybe you're right. I don't know what good it would have done, though. More and more I wonder if he'll ever get those memories back.
[he doesn't buy that it's not on him for being a weak link, but he also doesn't mention it further. he'll just ruminate on it while laying here in the mud. oh crunchy leaves, at least you don't have any expectations or moral complications about you.]
From what I gathered of Jessie's findings, it's not unlikely or impossible. I think it's just a matter of when. Regardless, he'll likely want to talk to you about the choice he made at the carnival. I tried to make it clear that it was the right thing for him and not a decision he made under duress or anything, but
Well, we both saw how bad he got before he got close to changing his mind. I'm sorry. This is going to make everything even harder for the foreseeable future.
[ she certainly isn't going to place blame on any one set of shoulders. they'd collectively made the decision to keep it from woody, and she won't let buzz bear that alone. ]
So what you're saying is that it's still just a waiting game.
He's in a different place here than he was then. I can't say for sure whether he'd make the same choice. I don't think any of us could.
A waiting game that should have an end now, at least.
Yeah. I'm trying to remember that. I told him about Forky as well which definitely didn't help. You remember the spork we were trying to rescue from the store?
[You have been visited by Holy Mami! She descends from the winter night sky, presents in hand. She has a smile on her face as she hands you a gift with a note attached. It’s a bunch of tiny bows for her to wear!]
“Made especially for you! Merry Christmas!”
[Before you have the chance to say anything though, she’s gone! She has a lot of gifts to deliver and little time to do so!] Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!!
[In an attempt to enthusiastically celebrate his first ever Christmas, Fern is covertly dropping off a wrapped gift addressed to Bo from him on her doorstep.
It's a toy-sized dagger!
Because of course Fern would assume a knife makes a good holiday gift.]
[he hasn't really had time to pick out presents for the gang yet. and besides, he really has no idea what you buy for toys. which is why he instead has the makings of a few presents lined up. the first being the large collection of cardboard boxes that have been making their way into the house, ready to build the city's largest dollhouse. eventually.
there's also a small addition to the team. while droney doesn't have any kind of ai, he does at least know how to follow commands. and, more importantly, has a direct link to karen. meaning, as he'll explain to the four of them, that they can get ahold of him any time they need to, just by talking to it.
oh, and there are also the plans he has for a toy-sized entrance so they have easier access to the house. something akin to an automatic pet door. because clearly adding tech is a way better idea than just adding a smaller sized door. but right now, they're just drawn plans that he'll pull out, along with a few blank sheets of paper so they can try and brainstorm some ideas together of other things they may need around the house.
look, as long as he's a guest here, he wants to be able to offer something in return.]
Morning, Bo. Or whatever time of day it is. I woke up with a grappling hook in my basket today. Toy sized. It would be great if I knew someone else who's good at using these sort of things to help me get a grip on how to use it.
[pick up what he's putting down, bo. let's be stupid.]
[Hey Bo. Remember that little girl you played with and talked to over the network. Well she's all grown up and remembered your username from the talk.]
Hey there.
I think we met twice while I was a little younger.
I just wanted to say that I appreciate you taking the time out to look out for and play with little me.
[ of course she recognizes the face when it pops into her messages; there are some qualities that are impossible for anyone to lose no matter how many years they've aged — like andy, who still managed to retain those blue eyes of his from the time he was little.
she plays the message back a few times with a faint smile on her lips, and then eventually pulls up the option on her device to send one in reply. ]
I think there was more than one person who sort of... found themselves becoming younger, unexpectedly.
But I enjoyed the company. So did the girls. It's been a while since we've had the chance to play with anyone like that. I'd almost... forgotten how fun it can be.
[Ruby isn't too surprised when she doesn't get a response back in video. She's actually surprised she hears back at all. Jessie had mentioned that some of the Toy's weren't big on actually showing themselves in front of people. Ruby just thought that might be a little lonely, so she had to reach out.]
Yeah. I have a few jumbled up memories of running into a few others that I kind of recognized.
I'm glad you all did. It was fun for me too. I usually find the time to goof off in one way or another but it's been a long time since I last had the chance to really play like that.
Are there not a whole lot of kids around here normally that you can play with?
[ it's a strange role to play, being distanced while also surrounded by so many people. bo wouldn't necessarily think of herself as lonely, not now that she's got her toy family here with her, but she has been more careful not to expose herself as readily as some of the others might have. it's habit, more than anything, after so many years of being on her own. ]
There are a lot of children, but most of them are well beyond the age when they'd really do any playing anymore. Or they think they're too old for it.
[ there's a wistfulness in her voice that she doesn't even realize she has right now. ]
So many of them have had to grow up so fast. Not just in this place, but before they ever came here.
[That... Hits close to home in a way that Ruby hadn't really expected. She doesn't often think about it but she's only just hit the age where she could have properly went out and applied to be a huntress. She's been doing work for meant for someone at least four years older than her for months now.]
The world isn't always kind to kids, huh?
Maybe they just a need a reminder that taking a little bit of time to play isn't a bad thing.

[ as a being who may not be "magic" herself, she's got a unique sort of fascination with hearing about things that just... appear out of nowhere. ]
Well, if you needed a demonstration, I could show you the ropes. So to speak.

They're gifts from Sodder, I think.
Jessie and Woody have had some too.
I'm in the kitchen.
Might've cracked the back door glass again. Miscalculation.
Less annoyed about this time.

Is it worth finding out if there's a repair man in the town who's willing to make house calls?

More interested in swinging around with wild abandon right now.
I also don't doubt that?
I'll be here.
I've found that getting a running start on Bullseye makes flying further easier.
